# IELTS fee in Bangladesh

## How to book

- IDP: Book online (choose the test, city, date and time, upload your passport copy and pay) or at any IDP branch. Pay online by card, by bKash or Nagad, or in cash at an IDP office within two days, or the booking is put on hold. [Book with IDP](https://bxsearch.ielts.idp.com/wizard)
- British Council: Book online in the British Council registration system or at a British Council IELTS registration centre, paying at booking or within 24 hours by card, DBBL Nexus, bKash, Rocket, at Standard Chartered or at a registration centre. ## ID to bring

- IDP: Book with "a clear, coloured scan of your passport" and bring "either your passport or national ID, depending on which one you used" to register.
- British Council: Register with your "passport or smart national ID card (with digital chip)" and bring the same original document on test day; for UKVI "only a passport is accepted".

## Test dates and centres

- IDP: IELTS on computer runs "up to 3 times a day and 7 days a week", and you can book as late as 2 days before if seats remain; see dates in IDP's booking tool. Centres: Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet, Maulvi Bazaar, Cumilla, Khulna, Jessore, Rajshahi, Bogura, Barishal, Narsingdi, Narayanganj.
- British Council: Choose a date in the date picker on the British Council's dates, fees and locations page or in the registration system. Centres: Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna, Rajshahi, Jashore, Feni, Rangpur, Cumilla, Sylhet.

## Reschedule, cancel and refund

- IDP: IDP's transfer and cancellation page: cancel 15 or more days before for a 75% refund; less than 15 days before, no refund unless exceptional circumstances are approved. Transfers are free 15 or more days before, carry a fee within 5-14 days, and are not allowed within 4 days. Other IDP Bangladesh pages still describe a five-week cancellation rule.
- British Council: Cancel 15 or more days before the test for a 75% refund (25% admin fee); within 5-14 days there is no refund. Transfers are free 15 or more days before, cost 25% within 5-14 days, and are not allowed under 5 days; IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills have a separate policy.

## Paper or computer

- IDP: IDP says IELTS on paper is no longer offered in Bangladesh after 31 January 2026.
- British Council: The British Council lists computer-delivered tests only, and IELTS for UKVI on paper ended in Bangladesh on 27 July 2025.

## When results come

IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI results come in 1 to 5 days (most within 2), and a One Skill Retake in 3 to 5 days. Paper tests, where still offered, take up to 13 days.

Neither. Both charge BDT 31,100 for IELTS Academic or General Training on computer.

### Can I take IELTS online?

IELTS Online is taken at home, but check that the organisation you need it for accepts it. Australia's Home Affairs doesn't, and UK visas that need a Secure English Language Test need IELTS for UKVI. See the band requirements pages for each country's rules.
