# IELTS fee in India

IDP is the sole IELTS provider in India; the British Council stopped delivering IELTS there on 25 July 2021.

British Council India says that from 25 July 2021 IDP is the sole distributor of IELTS testing in India; its booking link goes to IDP India.

Testmigo doesn't sell tests: you book and pay with the provider.

## How to book

- IDP: Book online at ieltsidpindia.com or at an IDP branch: choose Academic or General Training and the test format, pick a city, date and time, upload your passport copy and pay. ## ID to bring

- IDP: Bring "only an original, valid passport" on test day; IDP has "a no passport, no test policy".

- IDP: Dates vary by city and test type; check real-time availability through IDP India's Book Now tool. ## Reschedule, cancel and refund

- IDP: IDP's transfer and cancellation page: transfers are free 15 or more days before the test, cost up to 25% of the fee within 5-14 days, and are not allowed within 4 days; cancelling 15 or more days before costs an admin fee of up to 25%, and within 14 days the fee is non-refundable (IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills follow a different scale). IDP's fee page gives a different cancellation window (9 or more days) and flat transfer fees.

## Paper or computer

- IDP: IDP says "IELTS on Paper has been discontinued" in India; IELTS Writing on Paper (Listening and Reading on computer) replaces it.

## When results come

IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI results come in 1 to 5 days (most within 2), and a One Skill Retake in 3 to 5 days. Paper tests, where still offered, take up to 13 days.

### Can I take IELTS online?

IELTS Online is taken at home, but check that the organisation you need it for accepts it. Australia's Home Affairs doesn't, and UK visas that need a Secure English Language Test need IELTS for UKVI. See the band requirements pages for each country's rules.
