- IDP, IELTS Academic / General Training (Computer): IDP's older fee article ("IELTS Exam Fees in Nigeria 2025") shows NGN 266,000; the test-dates page and live session listings show NGN 299,000.
- IDP, IELTS for UKVI (Computer): IDP's older fee article shows NGN 285,500; the test-dates page shows NGN 315,500.
- IDP, One Skill Retake (Computer): No fee published; IDP says the price is the same whichever skill you retake.

## How to book

- IDP: Register online or at a local IDP branch: pick the test, city and session, upload a clean colour scan or photo of your passport, then pay. Card payment is online; cash at an IDP branch holds the seat for only two days, and bank transfer is also accepted. [Book with IDP](https://bxsearch.ielts.idp.com/wizard)
- British Council: Book online in the British Council IELTS registration portal with a valid identity card or passport, and pay by credit/debit card, PayPal or Klarna instalments. For IELTS on computer you choose your Speaking slot, and the confirmation arrives by email. [Book with British Council](https://ieltsregistration.britishcouncil.org/)

## ID to bring

- IDP: Bring "the same passport or national identity card that you used to book your IELTS test".
- British Council: Book with a valid "identity card or passport" that is valid at booking and on test day, and bring "the passport or national identity card that you used during the registration".

## Test dates and centres

- IDP: Computer sessions run on most days; see the session listings on IDP's test-dates pages. Centres: Abeokuta, Abuja, Akure, Asaba, Awka, Benin, Enugu, Ibadan, Ife, Ilorin, Kano, Lagos, Makurdi, Owerri, Port Harcourt, Sango Ota, Uyo.
- British Council: Find sessions and fees in the date finder on the British Council's dates, fees and locations page. Centres: Abeokuta, Abuja, Ajah, Akure, Asaba, Benin, Calabar, Enugu, Festac, Lagos Mainland (Gbagada & Ikeja), Ibadan, Ikorodu, Lagos Island (Ikoyi), Ilorin, Kano, Osogbo, Port Harcourt, Surulere, Uyo, Warri, Yaba.

## Reschedule, cancel and refund

- IDP: Transfers are free 15 or more days before your Listening, Reading and Writing test date, cost up to 25% of the fee within 5-14 days, and are not allowed within 4 days. Cancel 15 or more days before for a 75% refund; within 14 days the fee is non-refundable, and a One Skill Retake cancelled 72 or more hours ahead is fully refunded. IDP says this policy applies to IELTS on computer, excluding IELTS for UKVI.
- British Council: Standard IELTS: cancel 15 or more days before for a 75% refund (25% admin fee), with no refund within 14 days; transfers are free 15 or more days before, cost 25% within 5-14 days, and are not allowed under 5 days. IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills: 75% refund more than 14 days before, 50% within 14 days but more than two days, 25% within two days, and none on or after test day.

## Paper or computer

- IDP: IDP Nigeria's fee table, centres and session listings show computer-delivered tests only.
- British Council: The British Council Nigeria pages list IELTS Academic and General Training on computer only.

## When results come

IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI results come in 1 to 5 days (most within 2), and a One Skill Retake in 3 to 5 days. Paper tests, where still offered, take up to 13 days.

Neither. Both charge NGN 299,000 for IELTS Academic or General Training on computer.

### Can I take IELTS online?

IELTS Online is taken at home, but check that the organisation you need it for accepts it. Australia's Home Affairs doesn't, and UK visas that need a Secure English Language Test need IELTS for UKVI. See the band requirements pages for each country's rules.
