## How to book

- IDP: Book online in IDP's booking system (choose the test, city and date, upload your ID and pay) or at your nearest IDP branch. Pay by credit card online, in cash at an IDP branch, or by bank transfer. [Book with IDP](https://bxsearch.ielts.idp.com/wizard)
- British Council: Register online with a valid passport or national ID card (IELTS for UKVI and Life Skills through the UKVI registration site). Pay online by credit card, or by IBFT, cash deposit at SCB/MCB or bank draft within 3 days of registering. [Book with British Council](https://ieltsregistration.britishcouncil.org/orsnbc)

## ID to bring

- IDP: Bring "the same passport or national identity card that you used to book your IELTS test"; under-18s need written parent or guardian consent.
- British Council: Have "a valid passport or national ID card at hand"; candidates under 18 need written consent from a parent or guardian.

## Test dates and centres

- IDP: Search open dates by city in IDP's booking tool. Centres: Abbottabad, Bahawalpur, Burewala, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Jhelum, Karachi, Lahore, Mandi Bahauddin, Mirpur, Multan, Peshawar, Quetta, Rawalpindi, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Sialkot.
- British Council: Booking is possible "as late as 2-3 days before registration closes"; see dates in the date finder on the British Council's dates and locations page. Centres: Abbottabad, Gujrat, Islamabad, Peshawar, Mirpur, Mardan, Swat, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Multan, Sahiwal, Sargodha, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Quetta.

## Reschedule, cancel and refund

- IDP: Cancel 15 or more days before your Listening, Reading and Writing test date for a 75% refund; within 14 days the fee is non-refundable. Transfers are free 15 or more days before, cost up to 25% of the fee within 5-14 days, and are not allowed within 4 days; a One Skill Retake cancelled 72 or more hours ahead is fully refunded.
- British Council: Cancel 15 or more days before the test for a 75% refund (25% admin fee); within 14 days there is no refund. Transfers are free 15 or more days before, cost 25% within 5-14 days, and are not allowed under 5 days; IELTS for UKVI has its own policy page.

## Paper or computer

- IDP: IDP says "IELTS on computer is now the only test format offered in Pakistan."
- British Council: IELTS on paper is available only to candidates with approved special consideration on medical grounds, such as hearing, visual or speaking disabilities.

## When results come

IELTS on computer and IELTS for UKVI results come in 1 to 5 days (most within 2), and a One Skill Retake in 3 to 5 days. Paper tests, where still offered, take up to 13 days.
