## Why these answers are right

**1. Black.** The gap asks for the name of the street in Louise's address. She gives it as Apartment 1, 72 Black Street, Highbridge, and Mr Max repeats Black street back to her, so the single word needed before Street is Black.

**2. 2085.** The form needs Louise's post code. Mr Max reads it out digit by digit as 2 0 8 5 and asks her to confirm, and Louise repeats the same four digits, so you write the number 2085 in the gap.

**3. 94561309.** The home number is already printed on the form, so the gap is Louise's work telephone number. She gives home first and then says work is 94561309, which is the number to copy into the space marked (work).

**Announcer:** You will hear a conversation between Louise and the owner of the video library.

**Announcer:** First, you have some time to look at questions 1 to 5.

**Announcer:** You will see that there is an example that has been done for you.

**Announcer:** On this occasion only, the conversation relating to this will be played first.

**Louise:** Oh, hello.

**Louise:** I'd like to join the video library.

**Mr Max:** OK, would you like to fill in the application form now?

**Louise:** Yes, I can do it now.

**Mr Max:** Hold on, and I'll get a form.

**Mr Max:** Now, I'll just ask you a few questions, and then I'll get you to sign at the bottom.

**Louise:** Right.

**Mr Max:** What's your full name?

**Louise:** Louise Cynthia Jones.

**Mr Max:** Jones?

**Louise:** Yes, that's right.

**Announcer:** Louis's surname is Jones, so Jones has been written on the form.

**Announcer:** Now we shall begin.

**Announcer:** You should answer the questions as you listen, because you will not hear the recording a second time.

**Mr Max:** That's the most important part out of the way, but could I just ask you a few questions for a survey we're conducting?

**Louise:** I'm not very keen on westerns, although my father likes them.

**Louise:** But I'm a real softy, so anything with a bit of a love story is good for me.

**Louise:** It doesn't matter how old, not musicals though, they're too much.

**Mr Max:** Hmm, anything else?

**Louise:** I'm completely taken by documentaries of the great outdoors.

**Louise:** You know the sort, animals, plants and far away places.

**Louise:** I saw a wonderful one on dolphins last week.

**Louise:** It was amazing.
