## Why these answers are right

**14. hairs.** The first note says an insect touches something on the leaf. Paragraph A explains that the leaves "are covered in hairs" and that the process starts "When an insect brushes against them." Brushes against matches touches, so hairs fills the gap within two words.

**15. charge.** The note says something small passes through the leaf. Paragraph A says the touch "triggers a tiny electric charge, which travels down tunnels in the leaf." Tiny matches small and travels down matches passes through, so the answer is charge or electric charge.

**16. pores.** This note asks what opens in the cell membrane. According to paragraph A, the charge "opens up pores in the leaf's cell membranes." Pores is the plural noun that goes before "in cell membrane open" in the notes, so it completes the step.
