### What's the difference between に and で for places?

に marks where something exists or where you go (部屋にいます). で marks where an action happens (部屋で勉強します).

### は or が?

は introduces the topic you're talking about. が picks out the subject, and is used with 好き, 分かる, potential verbs and question words like だれ.
