## JFT-Basic score questions

### What is the JFT-Basic pass mark?

200 out of 250, which is A2 (reported as A2.2). There is no section pass mark. For how the scale works, see [JFT-Basic scoring explained](/blog/jft-basic-scoring-pass-mark).

### Is 180 a pass in JFT-Basic?

No. 175 to 199 is A2.1, which shows progress towards A2 but is not the A2 pass needed for the SSW visa.

### How soon can I retake JFT-Basic?

After an interval of 45 days from your previous test date, and only if you scored 199 or lower. Prometric enforces the gap when you book.

### Does a JFT-Basic pass expire?

No. A passing result doesn't expire, and a passing score can't be retaken.

### Can I work out my score from my correct answers?

No. JFT-Basic scores are equated: the Japan Foundation converts your answers to the 10-250 scale with a statistical method, so the same score means the same level on every version of the test. No one can honestly turn a number of correct answers into a score.
