The digital age has transformed how people work, learn and spend their free time. Some argue that it has made us lazier, while others believe it has made us more knowledgeable. Although both views contain some truth, I believe the digital age has made people more knowledgeable overall.

Those who claim that technology encourages laziness point to the way it removes effort from daily life. Food can be ordered with a few taps, entertainment streams endlessly, and many people spend hours scrolling instead of exercising. Students may also copy answers from websites rather than working through problems themselves. For instance, someone who relies on a navigation app may never learn the layout of their own city, which suggests a decline in certain everyday skills.

On the other hand, the digital age has given ordinary people access to an enormous amount of information. Anyone with an internet connection can watch free university lectures, learn a language through an app or read expert analysis of current events. A retired person, for example, might learn basic coding through online tutorials, something that once required expensive classes. In this sense, technology has made learning cheaper, faster and more flexible than at any time in history.

In conclusion, digital technology can certainly encourage passive habits, but it has also opened remarkable opportunities for learning. Since the outcome depends largely on how people choose to use it, I believe that, on balance, the digital age has made us more knowledgeable rather than lazier.
