## PTE score questions

### What PTE score do I need for Proficient English?

For tests taken on or after 7 August 2025: at least 58 listening, 59 reading, 69 writing and 76 speaking.

### What PTE score is Superior English?

At least 69 listening, 70 reading, 85 writing and 88 speaking, worth 20 points in the skilled points test.

### Is PTE 65 still Proficient English?

Only for PTE tests taken on or before 6 August 2025. Newer tests use the per-skill minimums of 58, 59, 69 and 76. For what changed, see [PTE and IELTS scores for Australian visas](/blog/pte-score-australia-pr).

### Can I use a PTE at-home or online test?

No. At-home and online tests aren't accepted for Australian visas.

### Can this calculate my overall PTE score?

No. Pearson doesn't calculate the overall score as an average of the skills, so no calculator can work it out. Australia uses your skill scores, which is what this checks.
