## Score conversion questions

### What PTE score is equal to IELTS 7?

An overall PTE Academic score of 63-70, according to Pearson's July 2025 concordance.

### What PTE score is equal to IELTS 6.5?

An overall PTE Academic score of 55-62.

### What IELTS score is PTE 65?

About IELTS 7.0. PTE 63-70 corresponds to IELTS 7.0 in Pearson's concordance.

### Can I use the conversion to meet a requirement?

Use it to set a target, not to meet a requirement. Universities and visa authorities set their own minimums, and some set a separate PTE score for each skill. Australia, for example, uses per-skill minimums; check yours with the [PTE score calculator for Australian visas](/pte/score-calculator).

### Why does PTE speaking need a higher score?

In the concordance, speaking and writing need much higher PTE scores than listening and reading for the same IELTS band. If you're switching from IELTS to PTE, give speaking the most practice.

### Which PTE counts for Canada?

Canada accepts PTE Core, not PTE Academic. Use the [CLB calculator](/tools/clb-calculator) to see your Canadian Language Benchmark levels.
