## Common questions

### How do I search?

Type Japanese in kanji or kana (駅, えき), or in romaji (eki). Type English to find the Japanese word (station, to eat). Results show common words first. For verb forms, try the [verb conjugation tool](/tools/japanese-verb-conjugation).

### Which words are included?

The common words in JMdict, the open Japanese-English dictionary used by many apps: over 22,000 entries covering everyday Japanese.

### Can I search with romaji?

Yes. Romaji is converted to hiragana and katakana before searching, so taberu finds 食べる.
